Job Title: Medical Writer II
Location: Aliso Viejo, CA
The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $35.38 - $44.00 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Employment Type: Temporary, approximately 6 months
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (100% Onsite)
Job Summary:
- Prepare clinical study reports (CSRs) by translating data tables, listings, and figures into study outcome reports, ensuring data consistency and regulatory compliance
- Translate clinical study synopses into full protocols, collaborating with project team members for input and accuracy
- Interpret data and apply scientific, regulatory, and compliance knowledge to document preparation
- Review clinical data and documents for completeness, accuracy, and consistency in style and quality
- Conduct medical/scientific literature searches to support documentation
- Track abstract submission deadlines and key dates for ophthalmology-related scientific conferences
- Coordinate with Clinical and R&D teams on conference abstract submissions
- Prepare and edit presentations, slide decks, posters, and other scientific communications
- Assist in developing figures, tables, and graphical content for publications and presentations
- Manage multiple writing assignments and prioritize deliverables to meet project timelines
- Participate in project team meetings, providing documentation status updates
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in clinical research, medical writing, life sciences, biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries
- Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies, medical terminology, and scientific principles
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for clinical/regulatory documentation
- Experience with CSRs, protocols, publications, abstracts, or posters preferred
- Ophthalmology experience preferred
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to evaluate complex scientific information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Public Health, or related field required; advanced degree (MS, PharmD, OD, PhD, MPH) preferred
